Questions to Ask
Introduction
- What is your name?
- When and where were you born?
- Did you have any brothers or sisters?
- What did your parents do for a living?
- Were you religious growing up?
- What were some hobbies you had?
- What are some of your favorite childhood memories?
School
- What was junior high and high school like for you?
- Do you have any specific friends or teachers from your teenage years you remember well?
- What was your dream job as a teenager?
Work
- Did you go to college
- What was the first job you had
- What were some things you learned from that job
- Did you switch career paths
Family life
Are you married
- When and how did you meet your husband/wife?
- Did you have kids?
- Was parenting harder or easier than you expected it to be?
Looking back and wisdom they can share
- What events stand out in your life looking back on it?
- Out of your whole life, what is your proudest moment?
- What is something you know or realize now, that you wish you knew at a younger age?
- If you could give 1 piece of advice to future generations, what would it be?
The Technical Side of Things
- Make sure your phone or camera has at least 3-4 GB of storage before each interview.
- If you are using a real camera, make sure it has a microphone.
- The most important part of the interview is the talking, but it still helps to consider lighting and camera placement for each interview
