Volunteer with Living Legacies
Make a Lasting Impact by Connecting Generations
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? Volunteering with Story Capsules Living Legacies offers you the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between generations, preserve precious memories, and enrich the lives of older adults.
What We Do
In Living Legacies, high school volunteers work together to create short biographies for residents with dementia or other memory issues in assisted living communities. These biographies provide insight into the lives of residents, helping caregivers and staff foster deeper connections and deliver more personalized care. Through this program, we aim to improve the quality of life for residents while nurturing empathy and understanding between the youngest and oldest generations.
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with Living Legacies isn’t just about giving back—it’s about gaining valuable experience, learning about the lives of others, and making a positive difference in your community. You’ll have the chance to:
- Build meaningful connections with families of residents and caregivers.
- Enhance your skills in interviewing, writing, and research.
- Make an impact on the lives of those who need it most.
- Gain experience that can help you in future careers or community service projects.
How You Can Help
As a volunteer, you will:
- Conduct interviews with residents' families to learn about their life stories.
- Create short biographies based on the interviews, highlighting key aspects of their lives, interests, and accomplishments.
- Be part of a larger movement that aims to bridge generational gaps through storytelling.
